A War rages in Washington. The fate of a nation at stake. For decades one side sat silent as the other enriched itself, stagnated the culture and economy, and intervened unnecessarily in the never-ending cycle of violence worldwide. In 2016 the American people had had enough. They elected a President who stood against the established order and promised to “drain the Swamp” of corrupt influences. In response, the established order doubled down in its war. Through the news media, it brainwashed segments of the populace into believing the President fascist, white supremacist, and “literally Hitler.” Suddenly, by virtue of his words alone, the President was worse than those who wrought actual death and destruction upon the nation. But this was not enough. It just made a coup more palatable. The establishment had to invent a scandal to justify ousting the duly elected President and replacing him with one of their own. Enter the Russia scandal and special prosecutor Robert Mueller, a general in the establishment’s war to regain power.
The true split in Washington has never been Republican versus Democrat. It is insider versus outsider, the special interests versus the American interest. Neither party has had the gumption to stop out-of-control spending, neutralize the military-industrial complex, or stand up against any of the three letter agencies. Party is not what separates us and them. President Trump makes this crystal clear. Thus far, Trump has had a very successful presidency. In nine months, he ended TPP, placed a strict constructionist on the Supreme Court, weakened ISIS without major military commitment, promoted government transparency, and presided over a booming economy aided by a policy of deregulation. Unfortunately, congressional establishment swamp creatures from the President’s own party such as Senators John McCain, Jeff Flake, and Mitch McConnell, have done their part on behalf of the establishment to stall Trump’s legislative agenda. This makes it easier for their fellow belligerents in the news media to attack the President as ineffectual, curiously contrary to their contention the President is “dangerous.”
The news media wants the American people to believe Trump is both too incompetent to succeed as president and yet just competent enough to have colluded with Russia in order to steal a presidential election. They are attempting to smear the President in every possible way, hoping something/anything will stick to tarnish his reputation. A Harvard study showed 80% of Trump media coverage portrayed Trump in a negative light. You may ask why the media shills so openly for the established order. It is likely because as arms of multinational corporations, the news media serve the corporatist interest, which is best achieved through the established order.
Without any evidence, the media spent countless hours accusing the President of colluding with Russia. It circulated a discredited dossier making scurrilous claims about the President’s actions in Russia. Once it became clear the Russia story had no legitimacy, detractors pivoted and began talking about a dastardly “cover up.” This may have been the intent all along. Deep state spook Robert Mueller entered the fray after Trump fired his old pal James Comey as FBI director; an act some have labeled as obstruction of justice. In a way it all seems pre-planned. It starts with Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, a deep state soldier, writing a memo suggesting Trump fire Comey. Once Trump fires Comey, Comey leaks information about the President and suggests appointing a special prosecutor. Since Attorney General Jeff Sessions conveniently recused himself from all things Russia, the decision to select a special prosecutor falls to, you guessed it, Rod Rosenstein, who taps Mueller to lead the charge for the Swamp.
Thus far, with indictments secured against figures like Paul Manafort for incidents that took place long before the 2016 election, and with selective leaks to the news media, Mueller keeps himself and the specter of Russian collusion front and center. Since the Russian collusion story appears to be fabricated, it seems highly unlikely Mueller will uncover what his commission was meant to uncover. Instead, the resulting mission creep will go back to the firing of Comey, in which the establishment believes it has the President trapped. However, the President still has one major weapon while he occupies the White House. He can strike a major blow against the Swamp through a nuclear attack, i.e., firing Rosenstein and then Mueller, stopping this absurd investigation. Of course, this is a risky move since there will be retaliation, likely in the form of impeachment proceedings. Perhaps it best to strike at the established order in a more subtle, nuanced approach. Maybe that’s exactly what the President is doing to end the War in Washington once and for all. We can only hope.
