On the page for the 2016 presidential election, Wikipedia lists all FEC-filed candidates who satisfy that site’s notability guidelines. Those currently meeting this criteria include Independents Terry Jones and Robby Wells, Democrat Jeff Boss, and Republican Jack Fellure.
Recently, a Wikipedia editor added to the page another candidate who meets the criteria.
His name is Josue Larose, the Super PAC man. He’s created more Super PACs than any other person in the nation, at least 60 in total. They include the “JC Penney Department Store Customers Super PAC,” the “NBA Sport Players Super PAC,” and, most importantly, the “Wal-Mart Customers Super PAC.” In addition, he’s created over 340 state PACs in Florida alone including the “Billionaire Josue Larose’s Dating Women Committee.”
When asked why he creates so many PACs, Larose told the Sun Sentinel, “I want to give everybody a voice.”
However, his actions frustrate FEC employees, who have to deal with the resulting paperwork. Among them, Larose has gained a bad reputation. Furthermore, he is currently under investigation for 2,052 counts of election law violations related to his filings.
But Larose, who doubles as a music producer, says he “will make a good politician.” He has run for Congress twice, and once for Governor of Florida. He filed to run for the Republican Party’s 2016 presidential nomination on December 12, 2008, making him the first to do so. However, the next month, he terminated the campaign for unknown reasons.
It remains a mystery why Larose withdrew or whether he intends to restart his campaign at some point. These questions may never be answered. Larose apparently does not take too kindly to inquiries. Comedy Central’s Stephen Colbert spent an entire segment of his show unsuccessfully searching for Larose, and when Sunshine State News attempted to contact him in 2010, his “spokesman” Peter Lincoln responded:
Be careful in writing bad articles against Mr. Larose, because he has a good Law Firm in Florida that represents him and that is ready to sue any journalist and any media for slander and difamation against him.
Please forget Josue Larose in your head. Then do not call us anymore and do not send us no more messages via Email.
Any new phone call will consider as a harassment call to Mr. Josue Larose and his staff.
Please leave Mr. Larose alone.
